Mhasu Peak

We byepassed Shimla, to reach Kufri . From here, we move further up skywards, towards Mhasu Peak. Barely one kilometer ride on car & then you have to take a pony to reach the Mhasu Peak. It derives its name from a temple of Mhasu Nag (Snake God namely Mhasu), a deity of local tribes.

Few glimpses of breathtaking view catch your eyes from behine the dense forests while you are enjoying the poney ride & one is tempted to stop in between to go out into the woods to enjoy the fantastic view of Himalayan Mountains. But wait... dont hurry... Once you reach the peak & go to the temple, the forests are left behind and the beauty of nature is available in its completeness for you to enjoy. Just stand there, inhaling all the beauty inside you, because you know you are here for a few moments only & the beauty is so overwhelming to be absorbed with just two eyes.

Popular Destinations : Shimla

Friends,

The speciality of our blog is to explore the untouched & little known places of India, but you always need a starting point for your journey. And it essentially has to be a well known place.
And of course, to let other persons know the route you need to mention popular travel destinations first as a reference point.

Its not that the popular places are not beautiful, they are... but they are also marred by crowd, travel agents, guides, businessmen, pollution, parking problems, commercialization & what not...

Here we present a few images of Shimla, a very popular tourist destination of North India.
First two images are some breathtaking views, quite serene & beautiful. One is the view from The Ridge and another is the image of a sunset... which is always afresh, always beautiful whenever & wherever you see it from.

Two images are of the City, Shimla. Seems beautiful from the view taken from a distance. Click to see the larger image, see closely the congestion, the traffic jam on the road... and you'll understand why we prefer to take a byepass from the popular tourist places.

In our next posts, We'll take you to Fagu, Kraignano, Kufri & Mhasu Peak. Of course, we'll be bypassing the Shimla City.

Beautiful Kashmir : Sonmarg

Kashmir is no doubt the heaven on earth. We repeat this mantra many many times, knowing too well that we run risk of sounding monotonous.... but well... only the one who has actually been there can understand it, why this has to be repeated repeated & repeated. Just because the kind of scenic beauty you'll see in Kashmir is unmatched, unmatched, unmatched. !!! Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg, Khillanmarg, Dras, Kargil, Pahalgam... you name the place & the images of pure beauty start floating in the mind.  And unforgettable .. indeed unforgettable is the aerial view when flying from Jammu towards Srinagar, you cross the snow filled Himalayas.... We can only be thankful to God we got to see such scenic beauty. We can only be thankful to be alive & to feel such beauty.  Oh India... Incredibly beautiful India...
This picture was taken on way to Sonmarg from Srinagar. Just a glimpse of the enchanting beauty of nature awaiting to reveal itself unto us at Sonmarg. This picture was taken by the author in April 2007.

Popular Destinations : Shimla

Hi..
This one is a photograph on the route to Shimla...
Enjoy !!

Little Known Indian Destinations Series : Adi Badri

The cradle of Harappan Civilisation, the ancient river Saraswati, has disappeared from earth is what has been told to us since childhood. True, but only partially... as it still runs beneath the earth's crust, as proven by ISRO scientists & ASI in their joint research over the years. The route connects all the Harrapan Towns e.g. Mohanjodaro, Rakhigadhi, Lothal, Kalibanga etc. The river runs through present day Uttaranchal, Haryana, Rajasthan, Sindh(now in Pakistan) & Gujrat before merginginto Arabian Sea.

Dainik Batoula learnt that there is one and only one place where this river is still visible ABOVE THE EARTH !!!! Incredible.. isn't it ? but so is our India... Incredible Indeed !!!

Dainik Batoula has visited the site & here we present to you THE UNKNOWN. The pictures, which have been a secret to the most of the humanity, even to the most religious Hindus for whom River Saraswati completes The Trinity-Ganga, Yamuna & Saraswati. Only very rare of rare people know about this place so sacred to Hindus.

This place is called "Adi-Badri" & it is situated in Yamunanagar district of Haryana.

With this we are also introducing a separate section with Picasa Web Albums, where photos can be viewed in the form of a gallery. A map has also been made available. So, just click the link on your left hand side to see the pictures.
